Nate Silver just discovered mansplaining

On this day we congratulate Nate Silver, who has discovered that it is frustrating when a man explains your own area of expertise to you.

On Sunday, the FiveThirtyEight editor-in-chief logged on to complain about "dudes (it's almost *always* dudes) who spend 15 minutes on something you've been studying for 10+ years and act like they've solved Fermat's Last Theorem."

And the women of Twitter said, "yup."

Rebel Wilson is blocking critics on Twitter after her 'first plus size rom-com lead' gaffe

Rebel Wilson caught some heat on Thursday for declaring herself the first plus-sized woman to be the lead in a romantic comedy. (Her new film Isn't It Romantic comes out next Valentine's Day.) 

She was wrong: Queen Latifah and Mo'Nique, for example, have taken on such roles in the past.

I still can’t believe that Rebel Wilson doubled down on the lie that she’s the first fat actress to star in a rom-com. Like Mo’Nique didn’t snag a handsome doctor in Phat Girlz! Like Queen Latifah didn’t get Common AND LL Cool J!

Instead of admitting her gaffe and moving on, though, it appears that Wilson is blocking people who've pointed out her mistake on Twitter. In particular, numerous critics of color — many of whom brought up Queen Latifah and Mo'Nique in their comments — reported being blocked by Wilson over the weekend. Axl Rose is not cool with Trump playing 'Sweet Child O' Mine' at his rallies

Donald Trump played "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses at his West Virginia rally on Friday. Axl Rose is not cool with that.

The GNR frontman clarified the band's stance on Trump in a Twitter thread on Saturday. Turns out, they've "formally requested" that the Trump campaign stop using their music, but there's only so much they can do.

"Unfortunately the Trump campaign is using loopholes in the various venues’ blanket performance licenses which were not intended for such craven political purposes, without the songwriters’ consent," he wrote. Read more...
