Russian Embassy just responded to U.S. sanctions with a meme. Really.

After President Barack Obama announced sanctions against Russia Thursday in retaliation for tampering with the U.S. presidential election, the Russian Embassy in London shot back.

In a tweet Thursday afternoon, the embassy's UK Twitter account (which is verified as the official account) posted a photo of a duckling with the word "Lame" over it, in a blatant reference to Obama as he nears the end of his "lame duck" period in office after almost eight years as president.

He had a pro-Hillary meltdown on live TV. Then the conspiracy theories started.

John Grkovic is a passionate guy. We saw that in a CNN man-on-the-street interview the day after the election during a protest in Chicago.

His fervor shone through the dark Chicago streets, as did his ardent Hillary Clinton support and frustration with the electoral college system in a two-minute clip that aired live.

Soon after his appearance on CNN, his TV moment took a turn. Grkovic's full name and phone number got out and he was bombarded with calls and emails from people who believe he is a CNN cameraman who was paid to look like a protester. Dubious news outlets picked up on this line of thinking and wrote online stories about him posing as a protester. The story started to spread. Read more...

Well here's a creative New Year's message.

A pilot used his private aircraft — a Evektor EV-97 EuroStar — and approximately 20 minutes of his time, to trace a "Happy NY" message from the skies over Milton Keynes in the UK.

Flightradar24 — a service that allows users to track flight patterns all around the world — tweeted  the greeting.

How Team Sprout Uses Message Tagging for Product Development

As our business has grown so has our customer base. As exciting as this is, the need to stay on top of brand-to-customer communication has become even more important. While it may seem overwhelming to think about managing customer feedback, you don’t need an entire customer service department to organize and address customer queries.

Here at Sprout, we believe that open communication between consumers and brands creates progress. We also believe that, regardless of size, it’s imperative to remain agile and evolve our product to meet the needs and demands of our customers and the marketplace. Social is where these ideals intersect.

The medium provides a rare opportunity to not only speak with customers but listen and discover. In fact, according to a Nielsen report, more than one-third of customers prefer to contact businesses for customer support questions through social media.

We don’t take customer feedback on social lightly—and you shouldn’t either. At Sprout, 25% of inbound messages are organized and tracked through message tagging. We then filter these messages using our Tag Report and present findings to the appropriate teams. Sprout’s Message Tagging isn’t just valuable for bolstering communication between our business and our customers; it can be beneficial when it comes to further developing our product based on customer needs.

For example, we used our Tag Report to analyze the message volume around requests for LinkedIn analytics. We then compared these asks with other product feedback we were receiving. This data collectively demonstrated that LinkedIn analytics were a priority for our customers and reaffirmed our decision to prioritize the LinkedIn Pages Report for development.

In addition to tracking inbound messages from customers, we tag any outbound message that has information on a product update or new feature. This lets us run a report that delivers learnings to our product team and provides us with a better understanding of customer sentiment. The product team continuously calls on us and Sprout’s Tag Report, to gather data, distill requests and identify patterns easily observed from our social community.

Promoting communication between businesses and customers strengthens the brand/consumer relationship. With Message Tagging, we’re able to monitor that communication in a way that helps us evolve our product and more efficiently understand and respond to our customer’s needs.

The alt-right's high school drama reveals a bigger struggle

Https%3a%2f%2fblueprint-api-production.s3.amazonaws.com%2fuploads%2fcard%2fimage%2f331479%2fd37b6793-2e26-4ee1-9796-bb578f67bf5d

We're still a hair over three weeks from the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and the controversial alt-right movement that helped lift him to power is experiencing high school level infighting.

Like a Degrassi High storyline, the alt-right is up in arms about who gets to hang out with the cool kids. Specifically, over who gets invited to the DeploraBall, a big to-do playing off Hillary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" comment, which is scheduled for Jan. 19, 2017 to coincide with Trump's inauguration (although it's not an officially sanctioned inauguration event).  Read more...

Paul Ryan wants to fine people who livestream from the House floor

Https%3a%2f%2fblueprint-api-production.s3.amazonaws.com%2fuploads%2fcard%2fimage%2f331434%2f3d9b8f23-4a75-4483-8f7f-55c55538383c

Democrats led an epic sit-in (25 hours is nothing to sneeze at) on the House floor last June when House Speaker Paul Ryan refused to vote on gun control bills following the Pulse nightclub massacre.

Livestreams, tweets and other social media posts of the hours-long Democratic refusal to leave chambers spread all over the internet, but now Ryan is proposing a vote in January to bring in rules that fine anyone who uses electronic devices to photograph, film or broadcast from the House floor.

With official broadcasts suspended in the House, we’ve created a channel to follow #NoBillNoBreak on #Periscope live http://pic.twitter.com/1xM0QGqvzh
