Donald Trump is back to fanning the flames of his love affair with Russian president Vladimir Putin.

In a tweet (with no spelling mistakes!), Trump praised Putin's decision to wait on expelling any U.S. diplomats from Russia in retaliation to President Barack Obama's sanctions announced Thursday.

Great move on delay (by V. Putin) - I always knew he was very smart!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 30, 2016

The Russian foreign minister had made it very clear the country would not take Obama's decision lying down, but then Putin stepped in and told everyone to calm down and wait for Trump's arrival in three short weeks. Read more...

App notifications—they're bad! But app notifications that are basically advertisements? Actually the worst!

Facebook doesn't care. It's urging users of Messenger, one of the social network's Snapchat clones, to open the app and enjoy a variety of "festive frames and stickers" this New Year's Eve.

The notification—which you might've received on your phone Thursday—is an open invite to explore Messenger's not-so-well-advertised snapping features. Open the app, and you'll see a circle at the bottom of your screen, emblazoned with "2017": Read more...

Facebook really, really, really wants you to love live video.

Facebook has started nudging people to not only create live videos, but consume them too. An update automatically pushes more live video to your smartphone screen. A bunch of people have been seeing a message pop up on their mobile News Feed: "Feeling the winter vibes? Go Live and winter it up with friends," the company suggests.

But if you're going live, what type of content are joining?

For a snapshot of what's on Facebook Live, check out a map of public live videos, available on the desktop version of Facebook. Click on the glowing blue dots, and you can seemingly teleport yourself across the world. But instead of historic sights or live events, you're more likely to come across flashes of boobs and butts, replete with an audience suggesting what to reveal next, and maybe a pirated TV show or soccer game, too Read more...

It's the end of the year and Cassetteboy, the king of UK political remixes, has turned his witty, catchy eye to the US.

Aired during Charlie Brooker’s 2016 Wipe — the eagerly anticipated look back at the events of the past year by the creator of Black Mirror — the video takes aim at Donald Trump to the familiar beat of "Ms. Jackson" by Outkast. The lyrics have been changed so that Trump is singing: "I'm sorry Ms. Clinton."

Trump's parody tune starts off like this:

"Beginning on January 20, 2017, Americans will experience government incompetence like they've never, ever seen. No tolerance, no sympathy, no decency. It's me." He then smirks at the camera and continues singing the popular refrain.  Read more...

India seems to be gearing up for a rather unusual New Year's Eve — one that will feature political speeches alongside live music and cocktails.

In a rare kind of party prep, clubs and bars in the national capital of Delhi are reportedly stocking their spaces with television screens and projectors for customers arriving on Dec. 31, when PM Narendra Modi is slated to address the nation.

Modi's last unscheduled address had shaken Indian citizens and the effects of his announcement haven't worn off yet.

Everyone is finding it too risky to ignore what the PM has to say now. It is likely that he will talk about 50 days of demonetization and what lies beyond.  Read more...
