LGBT community expresses grief and solidarity in the wake of Orlando shooting

In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, members of the LGBT community are speaking out on social media. 

The shooting took place early Sunday at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, resulting in at least 50 deaths and 53 injuries. The alleged gunman was shot and killed by police. 

The shooting comes as people across the country were celebrating LGBT Pride Month. Prominent members of the LGBT community took to Twitter to share their feelings. 

LGBT organizations also shared statements via social media.
