This is Twitter's new emoji for the EU referendum

LONDON — Twitter has a brand new emoji, but it's not what you think. 

The deadline for registering to vote in the EU referendum is nigh, and Twitter has launched a new emoji to make sure you don't miss the deadline.

Twitter and the Electoral Commission have teamed up to create the neon tick Twitter emoji which appears when you tweet using the hashtag #EURefReady.

The Electoral Commission wants Twitter users to tweet using the hashtag to encourage their followers to register before the deadline, which falls at midnight UK time on Tuesday 7 June.  Read more...
